The Local Justice Worker acts as a liaison for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are on mandated community work or who have outstanding fines. The Local Justice Worker assists these clients to meet the requirements of their community-based order and to advocate for service access and provision with the aim of optimising the outcomes for individuals on justice orders.
Youth Justice aims to support young people who have come in contact with the justice system by providing support to complete their orders. The program also supports young people who are at risk of entering the justice system by providing diversion. We will provide access to appropriate role models as well as culturally sensitive support, activities, advocacy, and casework.
The AOD program supports individuals with alcohol and drug addictions to work towards abstinence. The program can assist with rehabilitation, harm minimisiation, relapse prevention and counselling.
The Yallum Yallum Elders and Respected Persons Council aims to provide an independent and self-determining justice model that promotes cultural healing, social and emotional wellbeing, and a stronger role in culture and community. Yallum Yallum also aims to divert Aboriginal people away from the criminal justice system and reduce their over representation in the justice system.
